Dear Members of the Salisbury Neighborhood Association:

Thank you for your commitment to our community and specifically your efforts regarding sidewalks on Flagg and Salisbury Streets.

During the election for city council last year, I campaigned on the need to preserve neighborhoods. As your new City Councilor, I am presently working on this priority. Two key components of preserving neighborhoods are public safety and residents' quality of life.

Constructing a sidewalk on Flagg Street, from Aylesbury to Pleasant Street, addresses an important need for this neighborhood which ensures safety and enhances neighbors' quality of life.

In the upcoming school year, twenty-nine children will attend Flagg Street School who live either on this stretch of Flagg or who live on side streets off this section of Flagg. These children will either be driven to and from school, or they will navigate by foot one of the most difficult and dangerous streets to walk on in Worcester.

In addition, it is certainly not an unreasonable request for residents to walk in their neighborhood without having to risk their safety by walking on a heavily traveled narrow street.

It is with enthusiasm that I endorse this initiative. I look forward to meeting with you on September 8th and working with you towards a successful effort.

Bill
